liberty tax

In 2012 Liberty Tax wanted to develop and launch their own online DIY tax preparation tool.

my role

Design & Strategy Director | Front-end Dev

goals

Having been solely brick-and-mortar for decades, Liberty wanted to enter the online tax prep market with a full-service tool that also worked hand-in-hand with their in-person customer support.

problems

Simply put... The product had to be envisioned, designed, and built from scratch. To make matters worse, the agency originally hired to create the product failed, miserably. I'm talking millions of dollars spent with Liberty ultimately deciding to scrap all work done.

Moreover, bringing the project back internally, we had a very small team so the majority of work was performed by myself and we only had eight months to deliver.

approach / process / solutions

Upon joining the project as Director, I formulated a comprehensive strategy to:

Set the Stage: Develop an agreed-upon vision and strategy. Conduct in-depth analysis and engage stakeholders for buy-in, ensuring alignment with the company's goals.

results

We met the deadline and delivered a far superior product than what the original agency had presented. To this day, the platform is still running on most of the original design and build.

A New York marketing and advertising firm embarked upon a full rebrand which included a brand new CMS.

my role

Design Director | Front-end Dev

goals

The client wanted a shiny new website to match their rebrand. They also needed a platform to enable them to make changes and updates in-house. They also needed an updated client portal design enabling enhanced client media purchasing tracking.

problems

With the project being led and managed by myself and one other colleague and, working on a four month contract, I had to devise an efficient and minimal efffort approach.

approach / process / solutions

The approach was super simple since I was pretty much the only person working on everything.

Determine the best way to create a CMS that's low-cost, easily customizable, and easily maintainable.

results

They got a great-looking website that linked to their customer portal. It was in-line with their new brand and was super easy to update as needed.
